Gasoline prices have risen this summer; they are currently more than 17% higher than last summer. Have you ever wondered how the price of a litre of gasoline is determined, or why it varies from community to community?

Counting on Gasoline, from the Canadian Centre for Energy Information, www.centreforenergy.ca, is a teaching resource with activities that ask students to use current data and a supplied formula to understand how gasoline is priced in their own community.

This resource uses a cross-curricular approach to cover expectations from mathematics, geography, language and science curricula.
