One of the major goals of the Canadian Millennial Antarctic Expedition is to highlight the fragility of the Antarctic eco-system and the impact it has globally. The Arctic eco-system of Greenland supports marinelife from tiny ice-dwelling algae to the great whales. Through investigations of both polar regions we will develop a better understanding of how these vast, ice-covered regions respond to environmental change. This knowledge will better enable us to predict the response of all of Earth's systems to future environmental changes.

Diversity of Life, Grade 6 Have students discuss how personal actions help conserve natural resources and protect the environment in their region. Classroom Resources: The YES I Can! Science database contains curriculum-linked science resources for teachers. Grade 6 teachers will find the following resources to use when following this expedition.
Be sure to note the curriculum expectations for each resource. After the expedition is over, explore the other subjects/strands in the YES I Can! Science database for many more activities linked to the science expectations for your grade level! |
