Grade Three Summary

Humans cannot live without nutrious food, clean water and fresh air.

In planning a long term mission to Mars the problems involved in addressing these concerns have lead to the conclusion that the travelers should grow plants for food, to help recycle and purify both air and water.

How will plants respond to living in such an unusual setting?

Knowing how plants respond to light, water and gravity are important issues that must be investigated before planning an extra-terrestrial garden.

In this unit students investigate the behavior of plants.
