Perseid Meteor Shower

August 12, An annual event

The annual Perseid meteor shower peaks this year on August 12th. Although many schools are currently on summer break, this would be a good opportunity for teachers to enjoy this science event with their own children!

Visit Thursday's Classroom from SCIENCE@NASA to prepare your children for the shower with kids' reading selections, written at three different reading levels. Lessons include Sky Orienteering to find the Perseid radiant, a meteor coloring book, and reading lessons that reveal the differences between meteors, meteoroids, and comets. To add to the enjoyment, have the kids whip up some Falling Star French Toast for a long night of observing!
