Diane's note: Laurie was on cook duty tonight, which he says takes most of the evening so he just had time for a quick report.

We've done 15.3 kms. in a pretty horrendous day. It was blowing steadily between 25-35 kph all the time. Visibility was and continues to be pretty much zero. The only reason we could travel at all was that the wind was pretty much directly behind us; otherwise, it would have been impossible to travel into such a wind. We never saw a single step ahead of us all day. It was head down all the way, with just brief stops. It was a tough, tough day.

With any luck, we think we can reach the high point tomorrow if the weather improves or changes somewhat.

The problem with the wind behind us was that it brought snow and whenever we have snow it creates a problem with deep drifts and our fully packed sleds. With the poor visibility, you don't see the drifts ahead of you and the first thing you know your skis have lodged into soft snow...deep drifts and then you have to haul your sled through as well.

It's been a tough day but we're making progress just the same.

End of transmission
