Diane's note: This is a rather short update. After about a half dozen attempts to communicate, we gave up and will try again this evening. For the short period we were connected, I passed on the many messages I've received for Laurie and consequently didn't get too many details for this report.

Laurie reported that the snow conditions are still quite bad, but in spite of that they made an excellent distance of 22.1 kms. This was the first full day that the team used their sails. The wind picked up to about 25 kph causing whiteout conditions. In spite of the very poor visibility, the team felt it was important to use their sails to make distance, but most importantly to get some experience. Laurie said that it was a real struggle to maintain control and they all fell many times. They were all very tired at the end of the day but pleased with the distance covered.
