Diane's note: good transmission today

We put in a long day and did our longest sled-hauling day of the trip which was 27.45 kms. We set out this morning in quite calm weather and bright sunshine. We were stripped down to just one layer of clothing and were sweating it out for the first hour or so. After that it started to cool down a bit and we were able to put on more layers of clothing as the day progressed. It hasn't got really cold. It's cold for sitting around, but not for actual sled-hauling.

And that's what we did. We simply put our heads down and moved our skis one foot in front of the other all day. We stopped for brief 15 minutes breaks for food and drink about every hour and a half. It was a long serious day to try and make distance. We did that; we made 27.45 kms. The only time we've gone further than that was when we were sailing that one day.

That's what we're actually hoping for now. If we could get one or two days of sailing that would be wonderful. It would put us right where we want to be, but even if we don't we're still confident in our progress. We are of course very noticeably going down hill now.

End of transmission
