Diane's note: Laurie gave the following report via satellite phone. The end of the transmission was too garbled to be understood.

We're now at Tasililaq. (See map.) We got up at 4:00 a.m. and left Nuuk at 6:00 a.m. We arrived at Kulusuk by helicopter but all of our gear didn't get over. It's the old story; we're at the mercy of the air company. We're now stuck here waiting for the rest of our freight. Hopefully the rest of our gear will arrive tomorrow and then we'll have to re-sort.

This is actually typical of expeditions. Whenever you read expedition accounts there are always problems with getting organized, getting transport and keeping on schedule. So we're still very positive. We're treating this as all part of the experience. We're certainly on expedition. We're in a little place without running water. It's not primitive but it's not the kind of place most of us are accustomed to.

Tomorrow we should have better news about our gear. Otherwise things are pretty good. Sunniva has had a bad cut on her leg which she received when we were packing up. She received stitches. It's a bit of a bother but she will still be able to go on...

Transmission lost.
