Diane's note: This was the hardest transmission to date to understand. I think I got the coordinates although I couldn't make out the last number. I've transcribed what I could understand. There are gaps.
We made really good progress today. We woke up early this morning to the sound of what we thought was a raven outside the tent. When we went out we found a dog team. Apparently Dr. Hans Christian, well known ............................ in the Greenland area was coming from the other side of Greenland with paying clients. They had been storm bound for ten days since May 3; more than a third of their time was spent storm bound. They ran out of food for themselves and their dogs so they radioed ahead to Isertoq and asked one of the local agents to come and meet them. So here he was, having travelled through the night, sleeping outside our tent. Sunniva knew him; she'd met him before a number of times. He had coffee with us and then left.
We set off in gorgeous weather. The storm had done a great job and smoothed out the surface. We made great progress ................. snowflakes coming down. They made the surface a bit sticky but conditions were still good. It didn't slow us down.
The wind began to pick up. We tried to use the sails but there wasn't quite enough wind. We have different sails. Tore's sails are different from mine and Sunniva's. His worked fine, but we think ours will work better when we have enough wind. We'll have to wait and see.
We're experimenting with the sails. The terrain is getting more level all the time and we're gradually making progress...................
